To hold regulated assets that settle on the Liquid Network in self‑custody, you need a Liquid‑compatible wallet. NexPlace recommends Blockstream App (formerly known as Blockstream Green), which supports both Bitcoin and Liquid.
Important security note before you start
Your wallet’s recovery phrase (seed phrase) controls your funds. Anyone with the recovery phrase can access your assets. NexPlace cannot recover your phrase for you.
- Write down the recovery phrase offline and store it securely.
- Do not take screenshots of the recovery phrase.
- Do not share the phrase with anyone (including support).
Install Blockstream App
Download Blockstream App from the official app stores or the official Blockstream website (desktop).
- Official download page (desktop): https://blockstream.com/app/
- For mobile, use the verified listing in your local iOS App Store or Google Play Store.
Create a new wallet
- Install and open Blockstream App.
- Choose where to secure your funds (for example, “On this device” or a hardware wallet flow if you use a hardware wallet).
- Select “New wallet”.
- Write down the recovery phrase and confirm it when prompted.
- Set a strong PIN and enable biometric lock if available on your device.
Enable the Liquid network account
Blockstream App supports multiple networks/accounts. Make sure you have a Liquid account enabled so you can receive Liquid assets.
- Open the wallet and navigate to accounts/networks.
- Enable or add an account for “Liquid” if it is not already visible.
- Open the Liquid account and tap Receive to view a Liquid receiving address.
Generate your AMP ID (for regulated / transfer‑restricted assets)
Some regulated issuers require a specific receiving identifier for assets distributed through Blockstream AMP. This identifier is commonly referred to as an AMP ID or “Liquid AMP” address.
In Blockstream App, the wording can vary by version. Look for an option similar to:
- “Receive any AMP asset”
- “Liquid AMP”
- “AMP” receiving account/address
In the Receive screen, switch the network to Liquid (if it is not already):
- Select the AMP receiving option (if shown). This creates or displays your AMP receiving identifier.
- Copy the AMP ID / address exactly as shown.
Use this AMP ID when requesting issuer‑level whitelisting (for example, via the NexBridge OTC Desk) if your regulated asset requires Liquid AMP whitelisting.
Keep LBTC for Liquid network fees
Any transaction you send on Liquid requires a network fee, paid in LBTC. Even if you only plan to receive a regulated asset, you should keep a small amount of LBTC in your wallet so you can later move the asset.
- LBTC is required to pay Liquid network fees.
- LBTC is not the same as BTC on Bitcoin. It is BTC represented on the Liquid network.
